Teri Tibbett,
Juneau

Teri Tibbett is an Alaskan singer-songwriter. Her music portrays the lifestyles of raw and rugged people, dog mushers, snowboarders, Eskimo whale hunters, lovers on the Yukon River; and draws from over twenty years performing throughout Alaska in concerts, clubs, and Native village schools. She has lived the Alaskan life and brings to her audiences a taste of the last frontier.

In the spring of 1898, during the Klondike Gold Rush, an avalanche swept down near Sheep Camp on the Chilkoot Trail and buried over 60 people. This is the story of Vernie Woodward, who found her boyfriend´s lifeless body and breathed air into his lungs, massaged and shook him until he opened his eyes and called her name. A love story, yes, but also the true story of a strong, determined woman.

There´s a place on the hill
On the side of the hill
There´s a place on the hill
Where the snow it did roll.

It rolled down the hill
Down the side of the hill
Sixty men it did kill
It did kill.

Oh, the lady of the Chilkoot
During gold rushing times
It was love´s perseverance
It was love that saved his life.

They could not understand why
For three hours she did try
For three hours she did try
To bring him back again to life.

She breathed warm air
into his lungs
She fought with courage
and her love
In awhile he did respond
He did respond.

Oh, the lady of the Chilkoot
During gold rushing times
It was love´s perseverance
It was love that saved his life.
